Notorious created this video showing the places where French fashion designer Coco Chanel walked and lived in Paris. We listed for you her favourite addresses, places of luxury and culture, that you should include in your next trip to Paris.
Coco Chanel and Paris, an intertwined history
As Paris Fashion Week AW22 just happened, the Chanel show was once again the highlight of the most important fashion week. On that occasion, Notorious took the opportunity to follow in Coco Chanel’s footsteps in Paris. We went for hot chocolate at Madame Chanel’s favourite cafe and lived at the Ritz hotel. We also visited the museums and theatres and breathed the air of the new fashion trends on the streets of Paris. And as you will see in the video, the history of Coco Chanel is intertwined with the history of the French capital. Even after the death of the legendary Coco Chanel, the addresses she frequented remain intrinsically linked to the brand.
Coco Chanel and Paris forever
Chanel passed away in 1971. After that, her luxury house was under the direction of different designers. Eventually, The Wertheimer family persuaded Karl Lagerfeld to leave his post as creative director of Chloé and join Chanel. The rest is history; German designer Karl Lagerfeld reigned over 36 years at the head of the French label. He guarded the brand’s heritage like no other. After Lagerfeld’s death in 2019, designer Virginie Viard, Chanel’s studio director under Karl Lagerfeld, continues to lead Chanel’s creative direction with incredible success.
