Apparently, nothing can stop fashion designer Mary Katrantzou. Neither a virus nor pessimist feelings about the future of fashion. The Greek designer has just launched a new collection, amid all the uncertainties that we are living now.
Under the name Mary Mare, this is the first seasonless collection of Mary Katrantzou, which is more affordable, comparing to her runway creations.
About the collection
Mary Mare is an accumulation of the Katrantzou last decade history. Mary Mare’s prints are a cabinet of curiosities, revisiting the success of the brand’s 10th-anniversary postage stamps and seashells-inspired graphics.
Postage stamps from exotic destinations emblazon cotton poplin, linen and silk twill across a series of day-to-night dresses.
Seashells are celebrated across ten dresses. The pattern is projected onto georgette and cotton voile on standout mini-dresses and kaftans shapes.
Mary Mare’s campaign
With the on-going COVID crisis, Mary Katrantzou team was unable to shoot a campaign for the launch of the collection. So Mary worked with her in-house team on an illustrated campaign. The illustrations are inspired by vintage post stamps that feature heavily in the inaugural MARY-MARE collection.
3 of the 12 stamps will be released daily on Instagram with a #WishWeWereThere theme starting today.
Where to buy Mary Mare
Because brick and mortar retail is closed, Katrantzou is simultaneously launching its direct-to-consumer e-commerce. On a beautiful online shop, you can explore this feast-for-the-eyes collection composed of natural fibres.
And start to dream. Because we share Mary Katrantzou’s optimism: very soon, we will be on a sunny island celebrating a new beginning.
Nice touch: the brand will be donating 20% of all Mary Mare sales to Age UK and Action for Children to support those most in need at this critical time.
