Miu Miu Penny bag is crafted from calf leather, with a soft feel that will captivate anyone. Its penny-shaped closure, reminiscent of the loafer’s top design, is highlighted by a gilded coin. The slightly padded leather shoulder strap, attached with hardware details, features an embossed tab bearing the subtle yet recognisable Miu Miu logo.
The top handle is just perfect for this Miu Miu bag, however, it comes with a detachable crossbody strap, which allows for various wear styles. The magnetic flap closure adds a modern touch while ensuring easy access to your belongings. The penny leather bag is beautifully lined inside and offers quite a bit of space for all the essentials.
This timeless bag is available in shades like black, cognac, and briarwood. Classic colours that will take your outfit to a whole new level.

The Story Behind The Penny Loafer

The penny loafer is a classic shoe style with a rich history rooted in both European craftsmanship and American fashion. Its journey began in the early 1930s when the Norwegian moccasin inspired shoemakers in the United States to design a version called the “Aurland moccasin”, which then became popular in Europe and America.
The “Weejun” loafer–a play on “Norwegian”– earned its catchy name due to a unique design feature—a small split in the strap, just the right size to hold a penny. In the 1930s, this space was ideal for storing change for pay phones. Even after paying phones required more money, people continued to place coins in their loafers as a statement. Over time, the practice became so popular that “penny loafers” became a generic term for this style of shoe.
In the mid-20th century, the penny loafer became a symbol of Ivy League style and was embraced by both men and women. It has since remained a staple of preppy, casual wear and has evolved into various styles. These include tasselled and horse bit loafers, introduced by brands like Gucci and others.
Today, the penny loafer is recognized globally as a versatile shoe that can be worn casually or formally, making it a timeless piece in the world of footwear.

But now, Miu Miu created the Penny Bag, the perfect companion to the Penny Loafers, and they’re going to live happily ever after.
