Bright knee-high boots
Whether Victorian laced-up boots like these green patent Miu Miu or the Flower-Power style ones by Paco Rabanne, knee-high boots are an explosion of colour. Miista, Gucci, Altuzzara and Marc Jacobs also presented boots in vibrant colours. These boots are among the best shoe trends for spring since they allow you to start wearing frilly dresses and Bermuda shorts even when days are still a bit chilly. By the way, check which type of shorts best suits you in the article Shorts: the trend for all body types and ages.
Tied straps
As the days get warmer, you’ll want to wear heeled strappy sandals and espadrilles; make sure they have long laces to be tied around your ankles. The tied straps look exceptionally modern when worn with wide-legged trousers; wrap the laces over the pants to give them a new puffy silhouette, as we saw at JW Anderson and Isabel Marant. Valentino, Salvatore Ferragamo, Off-White and Burberry are among the fashion houses that created shoes with straps to adorn your ankles.
Chain embellished
Strappy sandals and boots come embellished with anklet-like chains next season. Altuzzara, Zimmermann, Oscar de la Renta and Proenza Schouler are some of the labels that presented this shoe trend during Fashion Week. By the way, this is an easy D.I.Y. approach to update your fav shoes; just add a metal chain anklet around your ankle and your footwear will become totally spring-worthy!
Loafers
Hello, the ’70s! The Bourgeois loafers with chunky heels look very polished and definitely contemporary. We saw them on the catwalk of Louis Vuitton, Lanvin, Prada and Loewe. Wear the loafers with block heels or flats paired with skirts, shorts or flared trousers to go to the office or out to lunch with friends.
Mules
Mules are a must for spring. The open-heel shoes look good with anything, from jeans and skirts to suits, and you can start wearing them now with colourful tights. You’ll get extra fashion points if you chose square-toe models.
Thong love
Designers seem to be in love with thongs, toe- rings and square shapes. So, they decided all, to revisit the hot-weather flip-flops. Hermès, Miu Miu, Bottega Veneta, A.W.A.K.E. Mode, Givenchy and Rejina Pyo, among others, presented beautiful sandals so that you can show off your perfect pedicure in spring.
Sky-high platforms
Say goodbye to flat shoes and kitten heels; this spring is all about towering platforms. Chloé, Miu Miu, Simone Rocha, Tibi, Prada and even Dr Scholl, to name a few, are making you see the world from a different perspective, up in sky-high-platform shoes.
Mary Janes
Jason Wu, Carolina Herrera, Marc Jacobs, Maison Margiela and Marine Serre added nowness to the cute Mary Janes. The classic and elegant shoes, typical of Chanel, have this spring a je ne sais quoi of transgressive and fun, whether because of their shape or the unusual materials. Wear the new Mary Janes paired with colourful tights for a polished yet modern look.
Besides these fab shoe trends for spring, remember that miniskirts and shorts ask for well-hydrated legs and feet.
