2021 is definitely the year of comfort, be it in clothes or footwear. And sneakers are your perfect companion in times when walking has become crucial as a way of meeting up friends and socializing, but also to exercise, avoid public transportation, and even for walking meditation. No matter whether you wear sneakers to work from home, to go to the office or for a run, 2021 brings you a variety of new fashionable sneakers to complete your spring outfits.

Modern take on retro classics
Loewe and other designers have revisited classic models like the Onitsuka Tiger sneakers, first made for the 1966 Olympics in Mexico, and Chinese brand Warrior WOS33, which has been making athletic shoes since the ’30s. The new ’70s-inspired retro sneakers look cool but, at the same time, sleek enough so that you can wear them at the office with suits, jeans or with flowy dresses.
Coolest kid on the block
These are the sneakers for fashionistas who like statement pieces. Wear fashion-forward sneakers with colourful details like Gucci’s and you’ll be the coolest kid on the block. We prefer to pair these bold and eye-catching sneakers both with skirts and stylish culottes instead of the more obvious athleisure looks.
The timeless classics
Certainly, this spring, you can also wear classic sneakers that never go out of style. These timeless sneakers with minimalist lines are quintessential of understated chicness. The iconic Stan Smith, for example, is a favourite among stylish women like the cool French model and music producer, Caroline de Maigret. Additional, the good old Converse All-Stars are the heroes of timeless sneakers. Models like the German Veronika Heilbrunner and the British Kate Moss and Alexa Chung have made All-Stars sneakers their signature styles.

Yes to platforms, ma non troppo
Platform shoes are one of the footwear trends for spring/summer 2021. Consequently, the platform sneakers like JW Anderson x Converse will continue on-point in the next months, but because we want to walk in comfort this spring, the chunky soles of the new sneakers are moderate. Pair fun sneakers with more elegant looks like a suit or tailored trousers as the American fashion consultant Danielle Bernstein does.

High-top sneakers
High-top sneakers bring nowness and dress down midi skirts. This is an excellent combination for a relaxed office look. So, in spring, follow the Spanish Blanca Miro’s lead and switch your ankle boots for comfortable high-top sneakers.

The fashionable eco-warrior
Sustainability is the mot-du-jour in our conversations about consumption and the future of fashion. So it’s only natural that luxury and sportswear brands are using innovative technologies to offer consciously-made sneakers. Prada Wheel sneakers, for example, are made of sustainable Re-Nylon Gabardine fabric. One of our favourite brands, Veja, produces fab sneakers using materials made from 100 per cent recycled plastic bottles and responsibly sourced rubber from the Amazon forest. Wear the eco-friendly sneakers this spring with short suits, dresses or chinos for an effortlessly chic outfit in the best French-girl style.
