In the middle of this summer with frightening temperatures, Miu Miu invited a list of friends for the inauguration of the Miu Miu Tennis Club in St. Tropez. Obviously, it’s a fake tennis club, but the location was the setting for the presentation of the Autumn/Winter 22-23 collection. Miuccia’s friends were welcomed on a retro-style tennis court and guests were basically dressed in the iconic pieces from this collection: micro pleated minis, polo tops and sport-inspired dresses.
The successful micro mini skirt that we’ve seen in other Miu Miu collections got a new life in winter, in homage to Wimbledon.
Who is who by Miu Miu Tennis Club
Who was in between matches: blogger Chiara Ferragni, Veronica Ferraro and Tina Leung. Also spotted at Miu Miu Tennis Club St Tropez were fashion editor Julia Hobbs, and model Camille Rowe. Also among the Meu Meu girls were Veronika Heilbrunner, Vanessa Hong, Mimi Keene, Susie Lau, Rina Lipa, Paola Locatelli, Olivia Neill and Mia Regan.
Tennis skirt and Polo dress trend
Not only Miu Miu but also Ralph Lauren and Gucci x Adidas dedicated entire collections to the tennis theme. Tennis skirts and polo dresses are a refreshing trend this summer. And the return of Wimbledon after the pandemic only helped to make the trend a reality. Tennis-related fashion searches spiked 87 per cent and searching for tennis skirts was up 36 per cent in May.
The tennis skirt is a classic design since the 60s with its timeless appeal and elegant silhouette. Princess Diana in tennis wear is an unforgettable image from the 90s, as well as actress Brooke Shields in 1983.
