Elevated slippers
Of you’re not ready to kick off your comfy slippers yet, we have good news for you; you won’t have to! In fact, Molly Goddard, Rosetta Getty, and Simon Miller want you in fluffy house shoes this summer, and not just around the home office.
Elevated flip-flops
From the beach to the office, flip-flops will be everywhere this summer, but the laid-back shoes come this year with a chic vibe. Jacquemus, Tom Ford, and Acne Studios are some of the fashion brands that elevated the thong sandals, making them in leather and with thick rubber soles. Acne Studios also created flip-flops with kitten heels.
Chunky platform shoes
The chunky sandals and sliders with thick straps are one of the hottest trends for this summer. Gabriella Hearst, Altuzarra, Ulla Jhonson are some of the many fashion labels presenting these bulky summer shoes that several of our favourite Scandinavian influencers are already wearing. In the same vein, Versace had models down the runway wearing bright coloured platform sandals, while Erdem and Ulla Johnson preferred neutral colours. Pair these statement shoes with dresses, jeans, shorts, pantsuits, and get instant fashion points.
Minimalist strappy sandals
This summer, wear low or high-heeled sandals with super-thin, barely-there straps like the ones by Acne Studios, Khaite, Givenchy and Staud. They look lovely with dresses and skirts but are also great with pants. Strappy sandals add chicness and sexiness to your jeans, and of course, help to elongate your legs. Choose shoes with asymmetric or unusual straps and toe rings for a more contemporary summer look. Likewise, sandals with ankle straps that wrap around the legs add a sophisticated air to any look.
Clogs are back
The ‘70s clogs are back for spring and summer 2021. Hermès elevated the chunky shoes taking them to the next level. Likewise, Stella McCartney and Louis Vuitton presented chunky clogs in several colours and shapes. The boho clogs are perfect shoes to transition from staying-at-home to hitting the streets in style this summer. And besides being stylish, this retro trend will add some centimetres to your height but still be very comfortable.
Chunky chain embellishment
Off-White and Versace added chunky chain anklets to heeled sandals. Victoria Beckham and Versace presented pumps and sandals with chunky chains. The hardware trend that had already started with the chunky-chain necklaces, is now embellishing summer shoes too.
Teva sandals
Sporty sandals like Tevas are still a thing for the coming seasons. But the chunky velcro shoes come this summer with some embellishments. From camping chic like Dior’s to sandals with platform soles, like Sea, fashion houses want to embrace the outdoor look this spring/summer 2021. Models wore Anna Sui’s girly velcro sandals with feminine socks at Fashion Week. Additionally, Jason Wu embellished his hiking sandals with pearls and bandanas.
Espadrilles
Last but not least, we can say that spring and summer have officially begun when we start wearing espadrilles! The wearable and timeless espadrilles have been around forever. And these wedge shoes never get out of style, summer after summer, they are a must for any stylish woman, from Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn to Catherine Duchess of Cambridge and Queen Sofia of Spain.
But before wearing open shoes and flip-flops this summer, make sure you get your feet sandal-ready and see in the video the many ways you can use the super moisturising coconut oil.
