Double denim; a timeless trend
We know this is not a new trend; it’s been around for as long as I can remember. From Elvis and Marilyn Monroe in the ’50s and early ‘60s to the gorgeous Robert Redford in a tackier than tacky double jeans look paired with a beret in the infamous ‘70s. Not to mention the sexy Debbie Harry from the pop band “Blondie”, Madonna, and the ultra-chic Sade in the ’80s. They all loved to wear the double denim timeless trend. And let’s not forget the ’90s Grunge fashion, and Gwyneth Paltrow in the year 2000; celebrities have been rocking the jeans-on-jeans look through the decades. With the come back of the ‘90s trend, we’ve seen lately on Instagram Hailey Bieber and Gigi Hadid, among others, looking fantastic in their double denim outfits.
How to wear the double denim trend
The double-denim can be worn in various ways, with top and trousers in the same wash and colour, or one of the pieces lighter than the other.
I think wearing a double-denim look in the same hue is chicer, while one piece darker than the other is more informal. You can dress up your outfit with accessories for a cool office look and even wear a double-jeans look to a fancy restaurant or party.
It is an easy-to-wear look, cool and ageless; the only colour combination I do not recommend is the top and bottom pieces in almost the same tone but not quite there; it looks cheap and seems you were trying to go for a same-wash look but failed.
