Vimini: The 1942 Bracelet That Started It All

The original Vimini bracelet was created during World War II, a period marked by severe material shortages. Platinum was unavailable; gold became Bvlgari’s expressive medium of choice. The result was a radical piece built on undulating, woven-like modules, inspired by Italian Rationalism and ancient basket-weaving techniques mastered by Greeks and Romans.

This approach, warm yellow and rose gold, modular construction, tactile movement, would later become a cornerstone of Bvlgari’s unmistakable style, setting it apart from the French platinum tradition.

The Vimini collection reinterprets the archival design into five contemporary jewellery creations:

• The bracelet — a sculptural golden wave, built from rhomboid elements connected by invisible flexible links, designed to move naturally with the wrist

• The ring — a five-band collapsible design that balances softness and structure
• Two earrings — vertical, articulated forms capturing the warmth of yellow gold, including a bold ear-cuff variation
