A royal wedding during COVID-19: Princess Beatrice tied the knot  An intimate cerimony.

Congratulations to Princess Beatrice and her new husband, Count Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. The oldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, tied the knot last Friday in an intimate ceremony in Windsor, with just 30 guests. Following the rules of the pandemic, Princess Beatrice’s wedding was small but not short of stories. To spoil you a bit, you’ll love the details of Princess Beatrice’s wedding dress.

Princess Beatrice’s marriage plans suffered enough setbacks to make any bride stressed. It all started with her father’s involvement with the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, where Prince Andrews is accused of having sex with an underage girl. The royal family quickly removed Prince Andrew from circulation and his daughter’s marriage was postponed. May 29th would be the new date, but the COVID 19 pandemic and the lockdown put the wedding back on the waiting list.

Why do they marry now, on July 17th?

The couple got married at the Royal Chapel of All Saints. According to the press, Princess Beatrice wanted to have Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, her grandparents, attending her very special day. So, Prince Beatrice decided to celebrate her wedding before the British monarch moves to her Summer retreat in Balmoral Castle.
The sweet details between grandmother and grandchild didn’t end here.

A vintage wedding dress

Prince Beatrice couldn’t have had a better idea for her wedding dress. She shopped in Queen Elizabeth’s closet for her big day. The bride’s vintage dress was made by fashion designer Norman Hartnell and worn by the Queen at the 1967 State Opening of Parliament. The Queen had dressmakers Angela Kelly and Stewart Parvin remodel the Hartnell design to fit Princess Beatrice perfectly.
Princess Beatrice’s wedding dress set a new bar for Royal weddings. Instead of looking for a luxury fashion house as Givenchy or Alexander McQueen, as the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge did for their big day, Princess Beatrice went conscious and sustainable, as a modern princess. Chapeau!

Another big piece borrowed from Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth wore the diamond fringe tiara on her wedding day. But the tiara was originally made for Queen Mary by Garrard and Co. in 1919 from a diamond necklace given by Queen Victoria for her wedding. With this historical tiara, Queen Elizabeth acknowledged the royal heritage of her grandchild. Not to mention that this important jewellery piece suited harmoniously Princess Beatrice’s wedding dress.

Princess Beatrice new titles

Ninth in line to the British throne, Prince Beatrice has also inherited the title of Italian Contessa or Nobile Donna from her husband who descends from Italian aristocracy. She is now, Princess and Countess.
